4 of 5 Stars!
Just got this rifle in the mail today. Thought I would point out some quick things that everyone should know. Please note, I Have Not Actually Shot This Rifle Yet!! All of these points are things I have noticed just based on taking the rifle out of the box and playing with it a little bit without a battery or bbs in it. First point to note... The rifle is wired to mini-tamiya, not deans. Honestly, I think this might just be the guys at ASD trying to be good to their customers by rewiring the rifle to a connector type most people already have. (And honestly, I had to go back and reread the description to see if it said deans, which it does, and needs to be corrected). Everywhere else on the internet says this rifle is wired to deans (every review) and is probably not wrong. I would be angry about the last point, except that on closer inspection of the rifle's instructions, that connector change probably saved me from a major mistake. Thinking the rifle was wired deans, I ordered myself a deans wired LI-PO battery to go along with it (as I don't have any). But I ordered a battery that is 1450MAH and 30-60C. Had the rifle and battery been wired the same, I stupidly would have plugged a 30-60C battery into a rifle with wiring that can only handle 20C. Probably just saved myself destroying a $425 rifle (eventually or immediately, not sure how quickly that would destroy the rifle's wiring or ECU). Upside, I do have a few tamiya wired LIPO's kicking around somewhere (I am switching back from HPA so they have been stored for awhile), I am just hoping they are small enough to fit into the battery compartment of this rifle. Of note, if you have watched any reviews on it, please notice that the battery compartment on this rifle is SMALL. Not impossibly small, but smaller than you probably think it is by looking at it. Final bad thing about this rifle... and take this with an entire shaker of salt, not just a grain, as I have zero experience with this system. The M-LOK rails are... well, a bit on the small side. I had to give the rails I bought a bit of encouragement to get them into the rail system, and honestly I am not sure they are installed correctly at this point. Again... huge disclaimer here, it is more than possible that I am just an idiot. I know from experience that there are two different sizes of keymod and that could be the issue here, but I am willing to be that the issue is actually user error, nothing more. Now, the good... holy crap this thing is awesome... except for a few parts that are required to be plastic, due to cost or heat or whatever... the entire rifle is metal. The weight is perfect. Not to heavy, but not so light that it feels like a toy (like other airsoft rifles in my experience). Even the flip up sights are mostly metal. The high-cap magazine is all plastic, but let's face it, once I have shaved down my G&G 120rnd midcaps to fit the mag well (the G&G logo on the mags makes getting them in place... tough... not impossible, but tough), I won't be touching that high-cap ever again. Yes, the bolt catch actually works, like it actually would on an unloaded AR-15 (ie; pull the charging handle back, push on the bottom of the bolt catch to lock the bolt in place, push charging handle foward). This will make adjusting the rotary hop-up unit a whole heck of a lot easier. All of the controls are ambi... ALL OF THEM... great if you're a lefty and looking for a rifle that you can easily grab. Another thing of note that isn't in the description here (or on the other reviews I found) is that my rifle came with a blade trigger, instead of your normal AR15 trigger... don't know if I just missed that or if is a thing that wasn't mentioned. All told, I cannot wait to get a battery in this thing and get it out on the shooting range to see FPS and accuracy and get it into play... hoping to do so soon. Despite my issues (which are mostly iss-me's not issues), this rifle looks and feels great in my hands... let's hope that translates to rounds down range.
